PRACTICE

Martin's practice focuses primarily on patent preparation and prosecution. Martin has prepared and prosecuted patents involving various electrical and computer-related technologies, including computer architecture, networking protocols and devices, graphics systems, graphical languages, image processing, databases, real-time systems, and semiconductors, as well as e-commerce and other Internet-related applications. Martin also provides patent counseling services, including patent validity and infringement analysis.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Martin has been working in the patent law field since 2001, including an associate position at Meyertons, Hood, Kivlin, Kowert and Goetzel. In addition to patent prosecution experience, Martin also has significant patent litigation support and patent counseling experience. Through this broad exposure to patent law, he has developed a better understanding of patent drafting and prosecution strategies that enhance the value of clients' patent portfolios.

Prior to his legal career, Martin spent four years in various departments at National Instruments (NI), where he gained valuable industry experience. His industry experience includes software engineering at NI, where Martin was responsible for designing embedded software for industrial real-time networks. During his time in sales and marketing at NI, Martin supported the opening of a new sales office in Europe, as well as the management of domestic and international marketing for a distributed I/O system.

While attending college, Martin worked at Applied Research Laboratories, a research institute affiliated with the University of Texas at Austin, where he designed test systems for geophones and other sonar products.

During his academic career, Martin also authored several articles that appeared in various publications, including IEEE and ISA.
